CDT Bid update
Thank you for your continued support of the Cycle Demonstration Town bid for Kendal. It has been very encouraging to receive offers of a support from such a range of groups and organisations from Kendal and this can only be good for the campaign.
In January Cycling England received their budget allocation for the next three years from the Department of Transport. Cycling England is currently looking at the implications of this settlement and is establishing the criteria for the next phase of the Cycle Demonstration Town Project. It is likely that bids will need to be submitted around Easter time, with a short list of towns subsequently invited to an interview process.
Please continue to spread the message on the benefits CDT status could bring to Kendal and be prepared to swing into action once the biding process is announced. Please keep your ideas coming into me here at Cumbria County Council. In particular, could anyone who has contacts at a senior level within the major private sector employers please forward them to me?
