Learn to Cycle
Saturday 6th September

After the high demand for these courses in July & August we have decided to run two more this Saturday
This course is aimed at children who use stabilisers or cannot yet ride. Pedals (and stabilisers) will be removed from the bikes so that the children can learn to balance before they progress to pedalling.
Please bring a roadworthy bike. Children must be accompanied by an adult and the adults may be asked to assist.

Cog Set / Cyclo Cross
Saturday 6th September
For one day only the ‘Cog Set’ moves to Central Lancaster High School,Crag Road, Lancaster
During the summer season Youth Races have been taking place throughout the north-west. The last race in the series is a ‘Cyclo Cross Race’ which is being held at Central Lancaster High School.
If you want to enter you need to be at Central Lancaster High to sign on between 08:45 and 09:30 and obtain a ‘Day Licence’ (unless you already have a British Cycling licence). The cost to enter on the day varies from £7.00 (under 8 & 10), £8.00 (under 12 & 14), to £9.00 (under 16). Races start at 10:00 and vary in length.
The weeks ‘Cog Set’ session will also be held at Central Lancaster High School.
PS The Cog Set BBQ will take place after the normal session on Saturday 13th and children and parents are invited to stay for our BBQ and some ‘family fun’ activities. (Parents please bring your bikes).

Celebrate the district's industrial and landscape heritage with a guided ride around the area.
Meet 11am Millennium Bridge
Heritage Open Days: Thursday 11th - Sunday 14th September: The country's annual celebration of its rich architecture and cultural heritage takes place this year over four days 11 - 14 september. The Heritage Open Days promotion aims to give visitors free access to interesting properties, that are either not normally open to the public or usually charge an entry fee.
Cyclo Cross
The first event of the season is local, at Snowhill Scorton, on 14th September and is open to all ages. Full details are available www.nwcca.org.uk/
Manchester Velodrome
Sunday 21st September 2008
Ever wondered what it would be like to ride on the track at Manchester Velodrome like our Olympic Gold Medallists? Well now is your chance! "Cog Set” will have sole use of the track on Sunday 21st September from 6pm-8pm.
The maximum number on the track at any one time is 15 and both adults and children can take part. The minimum age of participants is 9, for insurance reasons, however, there is no maximum age!
Cost to participate: £12 per person (Includes track hire, coaching & bike hire)
Transport incl fuel (1 x 15/1 x 17 seat minibuses): £5 per person
Spectators: free into Velodrome

City of Preston Grand Prix

Circuit racing on a 1.2km course around the heart of Preston City Centre.
- Youth races - all categories - 13:00
- Regional A Support Race - 15:00
- National A Race - 16:00
There will be a Preston City Inter Schools Competition run by British Cycling Coaches and the Cycling Club will be running a 'Go Ride Challenge' throughout the afternoon. Up to £2000 in prizes to be won.

FREE BIKE TRIAL
Fancy taking up cycling but don't have a bike? Then the Cycling Demonstration Town Project Team might just have the solution for you!
In partnership with two local bike hire organisations - Sunshine Cycles in Morecambe and Leisure Lakes in Lancaster - the council is offering two lucky people the chance to try out a bike for a couple of weeks for free.
To get you started, it's also offering free 1-2-1 training and your own personal bike buddy to show you the best route from A to B.
All you have to do is to keep a record of your journey - any problems you faced, obstacles overcome and pleasant surprises. Sunshine Cycles can also offer a trailer for anyone who wishes to have a go at transporting their young family too.

Getting Fitter the Fun Way
Don’t feel you're getting enough exercise and can’t face the thought of going to the gym? Why not try shedding the pounds whilst having fun!
We can provide free 1-2-1 cycle training sessions, for anyone who wants to give cycling a go. We have a number of fully qualified instructors who can teach at all levels. So whether you’re just getting to grips with riding a bike, or see yourself as an on-road cycling pro, there’s someone to help and encourage you.
Sessions take place at a time and at a place that suits you, and last for approximately one hour. And if you don’t have your own bike we can offer you one for free at Salt Ayre Sports Centre.
