Mountain Bike Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008, 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Interbike, Las Vegas,  Casanova Room 503

The Mountain Bike Hall of Fame will be inducting six worthy individuals on Wednesday, September 24th, after the first day of the Interbike Show. Don and Kay Cook, directors of the MBHOF are excited about this year’s group. We have a very diverse collection of individuals this year that will increase the credit and stature of the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame. They are John Finley Scott, mountain biking's earliest pioneer, Philip Keyes, an east-coast mountain bike advocate, Steve Blick, Oakley’s mountain bike go-to-guy, Bob Girvin, suspension pioneer and bicycle designer and two great racers, Brian Lopes and Nat Ross.

Kicking off the evening will be the Master of Ceremonies, Don Cook, who will announce the presenters before each inductee. Gary Fisher, Tom Grimble, Sal Ruibal, Steve Thomas and Patrick McIlvain have been asked to introduce their chosen inductee with fitting words and accolades.

Since John Finley Scott is being inducted posthumously, there will be a short acceptance film clip, assembled by Billy Savage of "Klunkerz" movie fame, highlighting John’s MTB involvement.

The Mountain Bike Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is a down-to-earth event amidst the glitter and glamour of Vegas. It’s a throw back to the roots of the sport. The early induction ceremonies were held during Fat Tire Bike Week in Crested Butte, Colorado. Crested Butte is still home to the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame’s museum. With over a hundred inductees, expect to see many mountain bike legends in attendance.

Each Inductee will receive a unique one-of -a-kind Andy Bamberg trophy, a beautiful Gore Bike Wear Jacket and Mountain Bike Hall of Fame memorabilia.

Colorado based New Belgium Brewery will provide attendees with Fat Tire Ale which will be served in the new Mountain Bike Hall of Fame logo pint glasses.
